Engine probs

Can I pick your brains guys pleeeeeeeease.

Inbetween doing my car I am wiring from scratch a mates track day mk1 Golf.

The engine is a mk3 vw 2.0 16v on jenvey 45's and omex 600 ecu. After a few teething problems with the crank pick up I got it to run well.

It sat in the garage over winter along with mine as my job means I dont get any time to play with them.

Ive come back to it three months latter and it wont run right. It needs full throttle to even fire and is very rough and back firing.

Nothings been touched and the base map is the same. The only change is a four baranch manifold has been bolted up.

There also seems to be a build up of presure in the top end that is pushing oil past the rocker cover gasket.

Ive compresion tested the cylinders and 1 + 3 are good but 2 + 4 are well down on the other 2.

Its got good oil presure.
Changed the petrol.
Changed coil, leads and plugs.

It feels like the timing is well out and its welll over fueling to need full throttle to fire. But is firing on all four.

Any ideas he wants id done for the weekend so he can get it maped. He has got it entered in the Modified nationals the week after.

Cheers

What are the AFRs like?
Have you checked all wiring and stuff by the manifold, if that's the only thing you think has been touched, seems it must be related. Is the manifold actually any good, ports matched well and the like?

The exhaust is an of the shelf job but looks fine. Doesnt look restrictive.

I havnt touched the map. Its just the bass map set up by omex. It ran three months ago but not now ?

All ideas welcome.

Replace whatever you have changed for the original stuff and work from there until you can isolate what it is that's causing the problem
