Air Filter

Hi,
I'm attempting to sort out the air filter for my ZX6 carb'd Pinto. I've got the original bikes airbox and was attempting to cut it down to a manageable size and stick on a cone filter either directly or remotely (in the nose).
However, the height of the remnants of the airbox would mean cutting a very large chunk out of my bonnet (Tiger Cat) which has already got a slot where the trumpet socks of my original Webbers used to protrude.
Has anyone managed to attach a sausage type filter to their bike carbs backplate or is there another (read cheaper) way of doing this??

Cheers
Ray

Thats what I did [though I chopped my ZX6R backplate as my carbs are respaced].

Just cut out a blank pipercross backplate and screw it onto the ZX6R airbox backplate.

Or you can what I did:
Cut down the stock airbox, made a lid for it, chopped one end off and attached a mounting plate, then made a CF adaptor (polystyrene block carved to shape, cover in CF, dissolve out the polystyrene) which bolts onto the end of the airbox and is 56mm round at the other end for a stock air filter.

Jobs a good'un.

2000 miles without problem...

Yes my garage is full of shite.
