pinto oil pressure readings?
Can anyone tell me what a pinto should be reading when hot, at idle and at high rpm?
Just installed a gauge and its reading 50+ all the time which seems high to me - wondering if the gauge is faulty.

From memory, Mines roughly 60-70 cold, 20 hot. Which seems reasonable, but I can't remember what the figures should be.

That sounds similar - mine was showing mid 40's this morning with oil temp around 60degs which still isnt that hot.

My oil temp more or less follows the water temp, just takes a bit longer to get there. There was a thread on here ages ago that discussed this in
detail. In summary (from memory) it was said that it was god for oil to get to around 100 degs to boil off any condensation. Might be worth a seperate
thread as this type of question can promote lengthy discussion.

Most oil cooler thermostats open at 80deg. Haynes also quote oil pressures at 80deg (for my XR2 anyway) so I've always been under the impression
80 is a reasonable operating temp.

With a high pressure and high capacity pump mine idles at about 40psi hot (110psi cold) and under power runs at just over 100psi hot.
That is on 10W60 fully synthetic
