2.0 l Pinto EFi
Thoughts on fitting a 2l Pinto Efi (with power stering (but I don't need that bit )
Will it go straight onto my type 9 from a 1.6 Pnto?

It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

Yes, a type 9 mates with all engines, ever.

^ kinda, some will need a lot of work, though i'm not sure about this one
but, yes, they're both pinto blocks.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

If you decide to go ahead with the engine change, let me know how you get on.
I would be interested in any bits you need to change, or problems you come cross.
I have got a 2L efi Pinto waiting to go in after the summer.

Yeah Blake, the electronic ME engine, a type 9 will deffo go onto that, just need a clutch release bearing off a 1918 Rolls Royce silver ghost, which
used the earlier Type 9.

You can keep the injection and save £££ on carbs too
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

If you fit injection you will need an injection fuel pump and will need to make sure all the rubber pipes are upgraded to injection fuel pipes as the
old carb rubber ones can explode under the pressure.
You will need a return fuel feed and probably a swirl pot.

guess I'll be fitting my old 1.6 E-max then (unless anyone's got an easier 2l they want to clear out of the garage )

Why give up?, I would say the injection route is easier than most others.

the efi engine works just as well on carbs
so if you do give up on the efi - throw it in the bin and stick carbs on it (like I'm doing with my 2.0 efi pinto )

"the efi engine works just as well on carbs "
I am not knocking carbs, but my car regularly does over 50mpg when in grown up mode, starts first time every time on the first rotation of the engine,
and the emissions are in the cat class, CO at 0.5% and HC at 78ppm
The other advantage is you already have the injection system so not much additional outlay

I'm not knocking EFI - Its just that the electrics scares me
but which ever way you want to go
(down/sidedraft carb(s), bike carbs, Ford EFI, ITB's, bike ITB's.......)
the 2.0 EFI engine is probably the best standard Pinto to get
the EFI engine has got slightly stronger conrods, a stronger block and a better standard port shape in the head
and there is nothing to stop you fitting carb's and any dizzy you like to it
