1.8 BLACKtop type 9
Ok, I have myself a Type 9 box, and a 1.8 blacktop zetec. Is the flywheel and clutch I have ok for the type 9 with just the spigot being changed?
Also, should they slide together as they are right now. One came from a mondeo and the other from a sierra cvh.
(its the first time I have meddeled with car engines btw...)
Also, is there a sump that would be easily modified?
Cheers Guys

hi
i am on with the same thing at the moment they should just slide together,i am in the process of modifying a bell housing so the clutch arm comes out
on top just to the offside (right hand side) about 1 '0' clock position then i am going to cut the sides down so i can get most of the
bellhousing into the tunnel
stew.

Well, my Series 3 2.0L Blacktop slid easily onto the type 9. I used a Silvertop 1.8 flywheel. Don't know if the 1.8 BT is the same tho.
I used a 1.8 Mondeo clutch with Capri release bearing and it all bolts together no problem.
Some of the ali sump has to be cut off but its just the ribs.
Bottom steel pan then can be cut to be in line with the bottom of the bellhousing.
There is a little info in my MNR blog below.

I have a 1.8 blacktop, I also have a 1.8 silvertop flywheel, and they look identical.
I re-drilled my flywheel to take the clutch which matched the gearbox, MT75 in my case. But I understand there is a configuration comprising the
original FWD clutch and a special extended thrust bearing.
Shouldn't be any need to cut the gearbox to make it fit, with a spigot bearing in it mates up fine.

clutches from the Mondeo engines should fit, it's on escorts that there's differences as it depends on MTX75 gearbox (compatible splines)
or BC/IB5 gearbox (not compatible splines)
Mondeo's always have MTX75, don't know about the latest series though.
