Exhaust diameter marginal increase

I have just bought an exhaust adapter to fit a new can I purchased onto my manifold.

The problem is that the adapter is slightly too big for the can inlet by about 1mm.

Does anyone know of a way of increasing the diameter of a pipe slightly. Something similar to wrapping electrical take around a few times (I doubt this would take the heat though)?

In case what I need is not clear, look at the right side of the image. The pipe that goes into the slip joint does not fit tightly, so needs to be about 1mm wider.

How can I achieve this? It can be permanent as it will not need to come off again.

custom exhaust places like Powerflow ( they have lots of franchises around the country) have a device that can stretch pipes to a larger diameter. This is the best method really to do what you want

I used a bit of S/S pipe that was the correct thickness, and close diameter I then and cut a slot in it to allow it to tighten around the inner pipe... By doing this I didn't need an adapter pipe and it all took up less space; it all fit's so well no exhaust putty is needed..

Weld the pipes together?

Wouldn't be my first choice but you did say that it could be permanent.

I think RSR by the army barracks in croydon can do this sort of job.
