Coolant temp sensors..
Hi guys..
I have a acewell dash that I use the temp display on. The sensor is in the top hose. How accurate are the temp sensors on these?
I am asking this question because I am trying a few rad fan switches to see which range of switch ON/OFF is the best on for my car.
The switching temps are marked on the rad fan switches, but according to the acewell, the fan is coming on about 10 degrees less that what the fan
switches have stamped on them???
I know that both sensors should be reading the same as both sensors are in the top hose about 6 inches apart!
If they just give a approx temp, then can anyone recommend a digital temp gauge with a sender on that has a better accuracy!

I'm wondering if you could use an infrared thermometer to see which is correct?
Just an an idea maybe rubbish though!!

How about pulling the sensor, leave connected and place in a pot of boiling water, see what it reads, if 110 degrees thats your problem.
If its spot on then add the same amount of ice cold water, it should now read 50 degrees allowing you to check the range.
