What engine 2.2 turbo Honda Rover ?

YES I know

But I have just bought an engine and and a boat load of other bits.

The guy I bought it of was adament that it was a honda engine, 2.2 turbo from a tomcat.

SO From a tomcat? not sure. Its got an alloy sump, so Martian informs me it likely to be from a 620 ti, as they had alloy sump, and the tomcats had steel.

Any way I can find more info from engine numbers or specs of engine?

Its got one of them fance oil cooler things stapped to the block somewhere, but have not got a good look at the thing in daylight.

If it is a Rover petrol turbo unless it is the old Montego O series single cam Turbo it is 2 litre Rover M or T series turbo, I think the sump may point it to beening the Turbo Sport version of the T series which had forged pistons and can take more boost.

A Honda 2.3 engine will have the letters PgFi cast into the throttle body.

The Rover 200 Coupe never had a 2.2L engined fitted, it used the Honda 1.6 D series engine, the Rover 1.8 VVC K series and the Rover 2.0 T16 in normally aspirated and turbocharged form.

Sounds you probably have a T16 engine, 2.0L turbo giving around 200bhp. A lot of people seem to think these are Honda engines for some inexplicable reason.

it is a T16 2.0 16v rover turbo.

I wanted totry and find a little more about it.

The gearbox that came with it did not have an LSD.

I thought all the T16's had lsd's

How do you know this? They came with Torsen diffs (torque biasing) rather than plate or viscous ones, so you won't be able to tell just by turning drive shafts.

I got the gist of the post, but this bit left me very confused...a being from mars attacked your gearbox with a garden implement?

Ahh, that must be Northern talk. Being a soft south-westerly jessey I find some of it hard to decipher .
