painting carbs?
are we allowed to do this?
seriously though, i have started cleaning up the indy from the previous owner and have started with the carb (38DGAS) i have a nice shiney K&N and
now have bolts for it (cheers r1_pete!)
so started cleaning up the carb, got it into bits easy enough, started looking at pics online of the carb and some people have painted theirs? is this
ok? the top of mine is painted some crappy silver (looks like hammerite) and is all cracking.
i have some 150' VHT paint in nice simple grey i was thinking of using, if not i will just carry on cleaning it up a bit more.
cheers, ant

I'd just clean it. Painting is likely to gum things up.

Best to clean thoroughly internally and externally and remove any existing paint. Make sure everything is free moving and lightly oiled/greased where
necessary. Refit and get busy driving it.

Does it make your car go faster? I wouldn't bother.
I did polish up my BEC carbs and made them look all pretty. Within a few months they were covered in road grime and back to square 1.
If you paint it black you might encourage the carbs to heat up leading to vapour locking...
