Dizzy to dizzyless ignition

If i have all the parts, how hard is it to convert a distributor to distributorless ignition? The main thing im worried about is adding a cps. I obviously need to undo the old crank pulley to fit the toothed pulley but surley the engine will still turn?

Sorry for the stupid questions, its late and my brain wont work.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I positioned my timing wheel using a small tapped in bolt into the pulley then had it spot welded in place. Seems alright, although not if youre trying to blueprint the engine

Either use a decent impact gun (best option), or lock up the engine by jamming a big prybar etc. into the ring gear.

You could try putting a piece of wood into the hole where the starter goes for the ring gear to bite into as the flywheel starts to move - that shouldn't damage anything.

Is this the AJ6 engine

If so they have a crank sensor and toothed pulley as standard!!

Or are you not able to use this for some reason

The engine in the locost is from an early 3.6 XJS which didnt have the toothed pulley.

Looking at my new one, it looks abit easier to take off. Just need a puller.
