fitting rubber hose to firtree connections....

I've just about broken my wrist trying to do this.... is there a tried and tested solution to make it easier? I've got the rubber aeroquip hose that i'm trying to mount onto firtree connections(oil).

can I heat the hose up slightly? or use a type of 'lube'
I was thinking about using oil but i'm not too sure if its a good idea?

I've tried searching but can't find anything!

if they are oil line fittings, i can't see a problem using a drop of oil to lube it up

they're not metal pipe per chance

stick the ends in hot water, shoulkd soften them.

are they the correct size? there are oil hoses that are designed to be fitted withoiut clips onto the fir tree ends but I don't recall them being that tight, perhaps you are quite weedy.

obviously rubber!

As for being weedy... you may well just be right I'm more worried that if I try too hard I might alter the direction the world spins.

A dab of oil and 3 plus shreaded wheat should do the trick after dipping the pipe in the warm milk first.

did anyone notice a gravitational shift?

Putting the hose in hot water and a dab of oil along with lots of manly grunts has done the trick.

Oil system now 70% plumbed in. Just got to decide where to mount the accusump and wait for an oil cooler to arrive.
