Type 9 Gear Lever Dismantling
Hi,
Does any one have anygood piccies of how to dismantle a type 9 gear lever so I can modify it to a short shift - I have written instructions butam not
sure what the bits are!!!

I did slightly different and just cut down the old gear stick approx 2 to 3 inches above the large shoulder. This I then used an angle grinder to
reduce as best I could to 10 mm dia for the top inch then re-threaded with a 10mm die. Not really used in anger yet, but shorter travel means faster
changes I hope.
I could not find anyway to remove the top section from the rubber without causing permanent damage so did it this way.
I did buy a spare off ebay just in case.

In best Blue Peter Stylee, here's one I did earlier. Was an old lever which I butchered. I dismantled all the bits to make it clearer but you
just do the drifting bit.

inside that shoulder is a rubber bush, and inside that rubber bush is the bottom part of the gear lever, which is already the right diameter for a M10
thread to be cut with a die.
you can see how short mine is here, i meant how short my knob is, er i mean, i've got a smally willy, er, no, thats not right, a short gear
lever! its like changing gear with a switch
