Help with Missys car thats cutting out
Hi,
Yeah Missy's Almera is not happy. Its either almost stalling or cutting out when you take your foot the accelerator. Once it recovers it idles
at the correct speed and runs normally. I've pulled all the plugs of the sensor connections and they all seem in good shape so I guess one of
the speed sensors is dead? Not too clued up on these modern injection engines tbh but it seems a good engine for access. Also since we bought it, it
doesn't want to keep running if started without having to feather the throttle, I suspected then that something was on the way out.
Anyone know which sensor is faulty?
thanks
this is the engine in it, a 1500 2009 petrol -

should that read
"when you take your foot 'OFF' the accelerator?
If it should, i would check idle control valve and crank position sensor.

i once had a car doing this it was leaking air after the air intake sensor took me ages to find it as the split in the large hose was right in
crease

Get some carb' cleaner and clean the throttle assembly. Probably just gunked up around the butterfly. If that doesn't do it then take off
the idle control valve and clean that.

cheers, how tired was I when I typed that?
yeah its not 2009 model more like its 9 years old! or an X reg what ever year that is...
I'll have a good look at the hose for leaks and the idle control valve. I've temporally increased the idle speed with the adjuster screw
so she can go to work. Just off now to buy some carb cleaner.
cheers

Twiddling the throttle stop screw should have no effect -- that in itself is a clue --- suspect the idle control valve/throttlebody is gummed up.

are they fly by wire throttle? If so then yep gummed throttle butterfly area, if not then idle valve
