Type E vs type 9 Gearbox
I would like to install a type 9 gearbox to have a 5th gear on my locost. I presently run the type e:
Its a nice box with quaife close ratio straight cut gears but it does top out early. Would anyone know if I could use the gears I have on the type E
with the type 9?

You want a new diff not a gearbox. The ratios you have now will be far superior to the type 9 and you'll only gain a little from the fifth gear
over the 1:1 4th gear.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Thanks Guys, I'll look for diff's...... other than quaife, can you recomend others that do diffs?
I think a 3.7 would be the highest I can go on an english axle.
