Hi,

Setting my 2ltr pinto on bike carbs and been offered a vac less dizzy but it has points, what would be the cheapest and best way of converting it electronic ignition?
Could i use the internal bits from my std dizzy?

Think about it, think about it again and then do it.

you could get an electronic dizzy with the vacume advance removed that would give you a 2D system
places like H&H could help you with that: linky (give them a call and they'll tell you your options, they've been really helpfuy to me)

or you could forget about the dizzy (apart from the bottom - its oil pump drive! )
and fit a megajolt setup for ~£160 depending on what you pay for the donor bits
if you use a TPS you'll have a 3D system (your carb's might have one already)
- have a read here to see whats involved: linky2

But why dump the vac advance? No reason too unless you like paying for more fuel!

After all it does increase economy in "cruise" mode and give better "pull"
Or if you really want to lose it just disconnect from your existing setup.
Alternatively if you find the advance curve is wrong then swap springs etc to get it right. Or fit programmable like MJ.

same reson why most people ditch it for twin webbers - because it doesn't always work well with 4 individual carbs

but Megajolt with a TPS is probably the best and most tunable solution on a budget (its what I'm going to use on my 2.1 pinto with bike carbs)

Humbug. Thats what the TPS is for, to mimic the vac advance.
I think this all comes from Rolling Road operators who say junk it as it has no place at WOT. At cruise it will improve torque and economy significantly. On seperate carbs either all 4 need to be connected, or do what alfa did and run the vac from just one intake. Probably too pulsey for a MAP sensor, but OK on old skool ditributor.
