V8 0r 4 Cyl - what to do???

Something's been bugging me for a while - I have a 1600 Toyota 4AGE 20V Blacktop to install in my build but also have a 302 Ford V8 lying about and every now and then the devil tells me "why settle for less when you can have it all" - Should I listen to the devil and have an insane and possibly evil handling Locost or be sensible and follow the herd.

And yes I am aware of the V8's impact on handling and weight and the hoops I would have to jump thro to get the power laid down and the drive train to survive but that's what BMW M3 wrecks are for.

Well...

Wallet says the Toyota.
Its only One Exhaust system.
It will go well.
Its a good and reliable engine.
Cheapish to run.

Heart Says V8.
That GREAT V8 Burble
Just a LOT more power and respect.

Downside is its more expensive to run, and needs twice the exhaust system.

I have a V8, and it passes almost everything on the road except a petrol station.

OK... Its thirsty. Now I couldnt afford to run it as a daily driver.
However, I have done 6k+ miles in 3 years. and havent spent that much on fuel.
If you anticipate doing 10k miles per year, the go Toyota. If you are doing limited mileage as most kit cars do, then Go V8 and have a grin from ear to ear

Its a no brainer... V8 is just more expensive to do and run.

PS... Go for a Granada type rear end, as it will cope better with the additional torque. ie 7.5" diff etc.
