Leaking exhaust manifold

Can you repair a leaking manifold with exhaust putty? Mine has a slight leak which, on further inspection, seems to be that someone (the previous owner ) has tried to clean it up but taken a little too much off in one section

Exhaust putty won't seal a hole in the manifold it'll just blow out. You could try chemical metal on it.

Have it resurfaced, a place that skims heads would be a good starting point.

I'd go for some exhaust goo. I reckon it would hold, it's been doing the job nicely on my exhaust header for a few thousand miles..... Useful stuff to have even if it doesn't work so not much lost compared to whipping off the exhaust and having it skimmed....
