type 9 clutch cable stroke

Hi all - have plumbed in my hydraulic conversion to my type 9 box, all appears ok hydraulically but am getting no clutch release.... could someone with a cable mech measure the stroke of the cable?

I fitted a new clutch kit at the same time and am starting to think this is the culprit (or i've fitted it backwards or somethin stupid....)

what engine have you mated to the box and what clutch kit have you fitted to the engine ? they all have a bearing on the travel required

not sure the stoke of the cable will be much help to you, as the leverages will be different depending on the clutch arm vs your master cylinder size and slave cylinder.

so do you mean when you press the pedal the clutch doesn't disengage?

have you got a spacer in there? is it the correct depth?

I am aware that the general hydraulic kit available is normally for the Pinto engine running the sierra plate etc. This kit comes with a mondeo slave cylinder and a large alluminium spacer. if fitted to a zetec arrangement the spacer is too short by around 13mm if I recall correctly. Tried this on a zetec and fitted a 7mm spacer behind the orriginal on clutch worked but slave cylinder kept popping its seal at the rear. so we have had another spacer made and will be fitting this over the winter. Must say the clutch was far better when hydraulic

i think my spacer is 23mm on my vauxhall/type 9 set up with mondeo slave.
without the spacer, the end of the slave touches the fingers on the clutch. just.

Hi folks - i have made my own which uses a series 3 landie master and slave. Slave is going into the original release arm about an inch closer to the input shaft than the cable would have gone (it now in line with the outside edge of the bell housing). Travel of the arm is 1" almost exactly, so based on the rough leverage of the release arm, the release bearing is being pushed 1/2" for full travel of the clutch pedal.

I have adjusted the push rod at the arm to pre load it and this hasn't won it. As it is now, the release arm moves until is <5mm from the edge of the bell housing opening edge, and still no release...

Engine is pinto, g'box is a v6 with spacer plate, clutch is the unknown I guess, was off ebay listed for sierra, but too many others as well to be 100% identicle..... and it turned out to be a refurb.... hence my doubts over it....

if it is externally mounted the afforementioned topics have no bearing as they all have the slave mounted within the box. is there no way yo can make the rod adjustable ?? has the lever been pushed toward the plate and the cylinder mounted from that point?

hi - rod is fully adjustable, and i have moved it about but not giving me anything.... as setup now the release bearing is moving 1/2" with pre-load on it, I can feel the load of the fingers bending when pressing in the clutch pedal, but still no release....

the plate may be sticking have u tried the starting it in gear scenario to try and dislodge or are you sure there is no chance of this happening ie recently fitted plate.
If you do this make sure your good on the brakes

engine ain't running at moment, so can't check but clutch was only fitted a month ago and has been in a dry garage so would be amazed if they had siezed together.

Testing has been on slope, putting in gear, releasing h/brake and then clutch.... have just ordered a new QH clutch kit so looks like the engine is coming out again...joy.
