whats the deal with duratec fly's then?

OK so I know they have DMF's as standard and that there are various companies offering lightened items for around £200.

Specifically RWD motorsport - we are probably going to go with their stuff, bellhousing with cable clutch release etc. But what is special about the flywheel? Could we run an ST150 flywheel instead of their design?

No doubt a Flakmonkey question this one? All the talk of mismatched flywheels/clutches/cylinders etc has got me all confused.

My dads of the view that we just spend the full amount and get everything from RWD - that way its guaranteed to work, but I cant help feeling that fly is just a little bit unecessary.

Yep - the 2.0 Duratec engine in the ST150 has a single mass flywheel.

Yep

ST150 flywheel which takes any 220mm ford clutch

I spoke to AP and they suggested for the best combo:

A pinto friction plate CP5351-1 but you could go paddle plate if you wanted.

And an RS Turbo pressure plate CP3560-2

Which should be enough to take a supercharged Duratec in theory.

Had one fail recently by any chance? I drive a mondeo ST TDCI daily and am dredding the inevitable DMF failure.

How much do ST flywheels generally go for does anyone know? Just so I know what I should be paying.

I got one with my engine, as did Scootz.

I should think, even new from ford, they will be a lot less than a steel one.
