best Zetec cam choice??
been looking at replacement cams for my silver top zetec, initially looked at mild kent 262 and Piper equivalent as they can be reground from my
existing cams at about £200 against the 278 cams which offer more power but at £400 as need to be from new blanks.
Ive now looking at Newman cams who seem to do all profiles from new at £300 which seems a bargin,
has anyone used newman cams? and if i go for mild cams will i always be wanting more hence the Newman 270 ones? engine is a track day car DIY ported
head and looking at megasquirt or Emerald ECU.

I ran piper 285 cams in my silvertop and it was very tractable round town and lively on track. Could have gone one stage further but that gets into
new solid followers/machining territory.

Newman are a well respected company. In the old Triumph circles they are head and shoulders above Kent, but that may be down to old cars being heavier
on cam wear (flat tappets etc)
Still, I wouldn't hesitate to use their cams on any engine. Kent, maybe not

Hi
Just be careful theres all sorts of companies offering profiles that just are NOT usable with the hydraulic tappets. Do some real research before
parting with cash. And then ask just how much further can you go than a set of 130Ps cams that have been timed in properly as these can give very
good performance.
Cheers Matt
