Sierra 4x4 transmission
As far as I know, the only transmission used was the MT75 box?
No 4wd version of the Type 9?
These were fitted to xr4x4 and 4wd cossies? Anything else
Did the MT75 ever come with a removable bellhousing?
Cheers

Yes a 4wd type 9 exists.
I would say the only advantage is that it is smaller than the mt75 (and removeable bellhousing). It is not very strong.
There are not many options re 4x4 in a longitudinal format, the skyline one is long and wide.

no, sorry
you can get adaptor plates for some engines (or you could make your own)
I've heard rumours of a 2wd aftermarket one with a removable bellhousing - but never seen one of these
MT75's come with either ford 4cly or V6 patterns
(btw - thats only the old 2.8/2.9 Taunus/Cologne V6's not the essex or mondeo ones)
The 4x4 V6's ones are in most 4x4 sierra's and granada's (XR4x4, GLS 4x4.....)
The 4cly ones are in cossie 4x4's and 2.0 DOHC XR4x4's
also the V6 and cossie's all have 3.62 diffs (front and back), the 2.0 XR4x4 has 3.92 diffs

the T5 was available in 4x4 but never in this country, it was fitted to the CJ7 jeeps, best place to look for 4x4 boxes is american ebay, all sorts of
4x4 boxes there with removeable bellhousings,
whats engine is it for.

I was having silly idea about using the commonly available vauxhall to ford bellhousings to join a saab turbo engine and an MT75 as a bolt up
conversion.
As ever it isnt that simple!

the type 9 4x4 box was used up to early 1989.
All 2.8's should be Type 9.
and most 2.9's should be MT75
Early issues on the 4x4 MT75 meant that some early 2.9's left the factory with the type 9.
