possibly.

there are 3 things to know
1. diameter of of flange at gearbox end
2. fitting at speedo head
3. length of cable
4. size of inner cable

ford 4 speed box is, from meory, 25 mm in diameter - think it is same for type 9 but cannot say for sure.

mini speedo most likely is smiths (or jaeger) - so would be like any bristish car from 50/60/70s. this can have a scrtew on fitting or possible a push on fitting.

speedycables - will make you cable to meet all 4 requirements.

..... BBUTT!!!! you need to be sure that your mini speedo is geared up to read accurately for the gearbox. Again there are companies can fit in the correct speedo gears and magnetise the innards so it reads correctly.

these type of problems usally mean that we end up fitting after market programmable speedos.

hi all, and thanks for the replys

the speedo is a smiths, it has a screw fitting on the back for the cable to fit to. the cable has a square drive. i havnt got the gearbox in the garage yet so i cant check at this moment...

i like the speedo as it has the fuel guage built in and the warning lamps too, it also has that classic look, which is what im aiming to acheive with my build.....i also have the oil preasure and water temp gauges to go with it....

i dont mind spending a few squids on it to get it set up for the gearbox, it would just leave me to find a tacho made by smiths...
