Oil Cooler Mounting
Is there any reason why i cant mount my oil cooler in this position, but the other way up (ports at the bottom) and slightly higher up so the top of
the cooler is in line with the top of the chassis?
It would allow me to use the hoses that came with the cooler and protect the cooler in case of a bump (it's probably the most valuable thing on
the car....).

Only reason I would guess at is a lack of "forced" colder air...
So if your main priority is the safety of the cooler (and it certainly see,s large enough to cool a BEC in any position!) then it should be fine where
you've got it!

hmm, it is quite big  will probably cool well enough without any direct air flow at it

make sure its got an oil stat fitted otherwise your oil will never reach its operating temp.
I'd try to mount it on a rubber bush or the like as they're sensitive to HF vibration.

How about an oil cooled GSXR engine 
I'll be running it with a fan so there'll be some forced air flow.
The shouldnt be any issues with mounting it 'upside down' though?

Oil coolers must be mounted with the ports at the top otherwise you can get air trapped in them.

Bad news. Cheers David, looks like im gonna have to stop being a stingy barsteward and buy some new hoses. I'm thinking it may be better to
mount it on the front for maximum air flow then and just try not to crash it
