Which 2.0 zetec, Blcktop or silvertop?
Which 2.0 zetec, Blacktop or silvertop, Which one is the best to fit, Does the blacktop have more power? What is the difference?

In theory at least the blacktop is better - has solid lifters and lighter pistons [I think].
However, whichever is cheapest and closest to you is probably best if you are keeping it standard.

Older engines had the advantage of easier pass for SVA, not sure what new regs say.

Blacktop's are easier to chop the sump but need an idler.

Check IVA rules. Under old rules non-cat engines had to be something like pre-aug 96. Which meant even late silvertops would require a cat. If u
don't want a cat and all the associated complications fit a silvertop then change to blacktop after IVA. Blacktop is slightly better engine,
but silvertops are still very good.

I have a 2.0 Blacktop and gearbox from a Mondeo with 76.000 I believe, complete with ecu loom and all bits on a pallet and to be sold if anyone is
interested.
I bought it to put in an Indy and then bought a BEC so the engine is surplus to requirements.

From what i have read i believe Q reg cars are exempt from this reg and only need a visual smoke test, Is this correct?

yours is allready reg'ed so you can fit whtat you like age wise.
Ive got both and like the silver tops better due to sump and water pump set ups.

On the zetec e engines - Does the type 9 box still fit as i have read the startor is further up?
