Pinto sump gasket

Has any body done it using ramps? I don't have access to a pit and I've got a slight leak about 5ml on the garage floor after each run. I'm going to give it an oil change and just bought the oil at about £35 and some of this Slick 50 stuff which was a sort of rash purchase for me at £25 but sounds good on the side of the box

Hence the reason I don't want it to leak away!

I know I'll have to take off the starter motor to get to a couple of the bolts on the sump but other than that, anything I should be wary of?

Cheers

Rich

Yes i have its not to bad too do
What i do is glue the gasket to the block with evo- stick/ bostik contact glue then put gasket sealer on it before fitting the sump
Richard make sure the sump is flat and no twist in it before fitting
Graham
PS make sure the back and front parts crank seals are fitted right they are a bit of a pain to get right

Eye, pretty sure its the back crank seal thats the problem, just got a bit of cheapo oil to check for leaks before I put in the dear stuff.

Last time I used grease to hold the gaskets in place but did have it on the stand so it was fairly easy, thinking about getting some long bolts (50mm) to centralise the sump and then put a jack under the sump to lift it into place and then stick in the normal screws. Sound like a plan?

I've now heard people using grease, evo stick and hermatite to keep the gasket in place whilst assembling, so what do most people use with success, also is is still normal so put the cork gasket in warm water to soften it up prior to fitting??

Apologise for all the questions.

Cheers

Rich

Just to add i have done that also, its a good idea to wear some sort of eye protection, you dont want swarf, a bolt or oil getting in your eyes!
