Gearbox Seals
Spent a good day out in the sun today dong some more panelling. Next job I'm going for is to put the flywheel etc back on the engine then remate
with the gearbox.
I've replaced the speedo output seal and the rear gearbox seal, I've got the one seal left in the kit which is the front seal. How easy it
is to change and are they known for failing?
It seems silly not to replace it whilst it before I refit to the engine.

Which Gearbox ?
*If* its a Type 9 they're easy
Whichever gearbox you have though its definetly worth doing whilst its out

it'll be pain in the bottom to do have to get the engine out later. might as well do it now.
as above, if its a type 9, undo the the little trumpet thing that the bearing slides on, and its just back there i think

hi
i was considering doing seals on my type 9 gearbox. are they easy to do? nothing in haynes manual about them.
where do you get a seal set from and are they expensive? how many are there?

Thanks guys. Yep, it's a type 9 so seems a doddle.
steve8274, I got mine off the bay, there are 3, one for the rear, one for the speedo output (both dead easy to remove with a screwdriver and small
hammer), and the one I was asking about at the front. They are pretty cheap too

thanks. was the front one as easy to do too. is it like blakep82 said "undo the the little trumpet thing that the bearing slides on, and its
just back there i think"
any problems?
