Dellorto DHLA40H

I have purchased a second hand Dellorto DHLA40H on a single manifold for my Crossflow.

I have stripped it down to check the jet sizes re. "the book" and have the following - 7772.6 with jet 180 or 160 and 7850.9 with jet 56 (the latter is the shotter stem.

This will go on a 1300 with everything standard.

Will this work? Thanks

Seeing as no-one else has come forward I'll offer something up.

I have twin "H" carbs on mine (2.0l tuned Pinto) and I got them 2nd hand off ebay from a guy in Italy (probably off an Alfa).

The problem with the "H" type as Des Hammill says in his book is they are an emission type and do not conform to the standard jetting.

IIRC it's to do with the fact they have large fixed air bleed holes and so the idle jets have to be too big to compensate.

The sum of this means my engine builder told me they were "awful carbs" but the guy I bought them off said "he knows a nothing" and if he was a half decent tuner he could get them right.

My car is OK but drinks fuel and spits back through the carbs. My tuner said he did the best he could and I should consider changing them but I can't really justify the expense.

Guess the only answer is suck and see as I don't think anyone will be able to give you the right answer.

I used to be apathetic but now I just don't care.

Thanks for that i have been told from someone i used to work with that it will run on that.

I have the book, so was looking at where it said about using a certain jet dependent on the cc of each cylinder, but need to sit and look at that again.

At the moment i think i will get a service kit and possibly change the float needle and see what happens.

I will need to get a bugle as the carb sits slightly higher then the bonnet.
