hopefully the last silly question from me on this...

looking at getting a header tank from the scrap man tomorrow to get the car running, and getting a custom one later.

but here's the stupid question
does this one have a pressure cap on top? i'm used to the quarter twist on type, where you see the pring and everything, but these are just sort of screw on?

if not, how do vauxhalls deal with releasing the pressure?

its a vauxhall engine i'm going to use it with

I believe there is a valve in the top.

makes sense, but where does the excess pressure come out? my dads got an omega, and i had a look at the cap on that one, and couldn't really work it out

Yup... pressure cap usually on the top of that type of tank...

If you can find one... the Polo 1995-2001 has a nicer round header tank Used one on both my cars

I used a vw golf one and it like a double walled thing where the excess pressure goes around the outer wall and out of a hole in the back of the neck. Maybe similar.

Cheers

good stuff thanks i'll see what i can find.

the main issue is the bracket i'm going to have to mount it on is about 6" below the top of the radiator, so reall need something that mounts to a vertical bracket, without the bracket being too tall, and bendy under vibration

corsa one seems to fit the bill, VW ones might too, will see whats available

A valve in the cap vents at 1bar (I think or 15psi) and presure escapes past the threads via a slot in them.
