Catch tank location..

Do you have to fit a catch tank in a specific location in relation to the engine? IE higher than the breather outlet like you have to with a header tank?

I have no room on the bulkhead and am wondering if I can fit it on the engine side of the passenger footwell end plate.

Thanks
Shaun

the higher the better for a catch tank on a crossflow, they tend to chuck a bit of oil about and its less likely to end up in the catch tank if the pipes run uphill .m.

the higher the better, but provided the breather setup is working well then you shouldn't release much oil at all in which case the tank could go lower, but make sure the hoses loop up as high as possible so they naturally drain back into the engine
