tin top turbo problems

ive got a renault DCi with what sounds like a death turbo rattle! took the air inlet pipe off and there seems to be an excessive amount of end float in the spool, should there be any in/out movement in the air compressor spool? and if so how much is ok?

thanks

The end float should be in the order of 1 to 3/1000th of an inch.

Feck all in other words.

Check the intercooler - might be filled with oil. You cant switch off a diesel when its running on its own oil!

Renault will not give warranty on a turbo fitted without a intercooler, air pipes, oil feed pipe and drain pipe.
