Fixing trigger wheel to pulley
Hi,
I picked up a trigger wheel at Stoneleigh and have had a shallow recess machined off the front of my zetec crank pulley to centre the trigger wheel.
Is it ok to simply weld the trigger wheel onto the pulley?
The chap who did the machining for me said the pulley machined like it might be cast so I'm not sure if this would cause problems when
welding
I was thinking about using my mig to weld small beads in 4 or 6 places round the circumference
cheers,
Lee

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I wouldn't weld. If it's cast, it'll fail eventually, and likely distort when you weld it anyway. Drill and tap I'd say.

Thanks for the replies, will go the drill & tap route instead

they also have a rubber damper in them. Like a dual mass setup.
I woul drill and tap. Atleast you can move it.

I would also suggest tapping and bolting. It might be worth adding a pin and drilling a small hole in the trigger wheel to locate the trigger wheel on
the pulley (ie so if you take it off and put it on again the timing won't go all over the shop if you put it on 90 degrees off).
