Carb overflowing... HELP!!

Was just checking over the TVR for someone to come look at it tomorow and I noticed that one of the carbs is overflowing out of the overflow port...

Measured the fuel pressure and its about 3-5PSI... Is that too high for an SU carbed car? Its been fine for over a year with this pump...

Its strange because I opened up the float bowel to check the float valve worked ok..which it did, there is no fuel in the float and there doesnt appear to be much debris in the chamber..... I then had the engine running on the drive for about 10-15 mins with no untoward leaks... Shut it off... and after a few mins as the fuel pressure started to bleed off, the thing started weeeing fuel everywhere again..

Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

As it was OK up to now I would guess that it may well be the float valve (grit or gunge on the tapered bit). 3 - 5 psi isn't too high for an ordinary (non-bike) carb).

But why does it only start pissing out when the fuel pressure begins to drop after the pump shuts down?

It just did it again driving the car back into the garage...

5 psi is slightly high but the real problem is new float valves required -- original SU type only last a couple of years. The only type supplied now is the optional type with the Viton rubber tip which last a lot longer. Cost about 14 quid for 2.

Burlen services are the spares holders for SU I am pretty sure all SU carbs use the same part but you should find a tag with the carb spec on one of the float chamber screws --- should be a number something like FYX1050 or AUC770
