Remote gear lever 4 speed Help

Hi
I am looking for a remote gear lever for a mk2 escort 4 speed box but haven't found anything yet does anyone sell these if not is it possible to make one
It is right inthe way of the dashboard ATM
Help greatly appreciated

i dont think you can buy one
what 4 speed box do you have type 3 ?

It's not too hard - it involves cutting the existing gearstick down to a few inches, then connecting it with a metal bar to a new gearstick further back. The new lever uses a rose joint to allow it to swivel.

Hard to explain, but easy in pictures! If no-one else posts a picture then I'll look through my archives tonight.

The only down-side is that you lose the 'push-down' function that stops you going into reverse. There are ways round that though.

Thanks for all the links I couldn't find anything in the search I have a type 2 by the looks of it
Wicket yours looks great im going to try and keep it simple like in David's link
Went to the black smiths and got the metal bits just need a rose joint as well and a welder now
I will post some pics when I get round to it and the rain stops

Would an 8mm Rose joint be strong enough
worked out were it should all fit together just need a few bits
