Someone to make custom Aliminuim Airbox ?

Hello All,

Being no good at all at welding Ali, i am looking for someone to make / weld a small ali airbox up for me. Its just the part which directly attaches to the carbs, as shown in the photo below (the circular bit on the top is a Venom part from Rally Design)

http://gallery.me.com/tkipling#100030/436487
(Sorry - this should work now

Does anyone know of anyone who would be able to weld this up for me if i shape / bend all the metal and drop it in a box ?

Cheers
Tris

Hello Dan

Sorry - typo on my part, the link should be there now.

The rods are an idea, although i would like to make mine out of thin'ish' ali.
My experience of the rods was that all it was very difficult to weld thin material, and a lot easier with a nice thick slab. Its in a very prominent place in the car too, so there's the visual look to consider (and my previous attempts looked hideous !)

Cheers

I have used three companies for bespoke ali work:

Altiss Eng

ProAlloy

Andy Wiltshire

None are cheap, but all are fantastic!

Ah i can see picture now, if you cut/bend all the parts stick a drawing in the box i can do it for you.

In leyman terms, its a bit like a gutter with a blanking plate each end, and a bottom with 4 holes in with 4 small cut (50mm dia) tubes coming off the base, with a bigger tube (75 mm dia) on the front end for the air filter to fit to it. !

Hello Joe

Yes, sorry about the picture and thanks for your kind offer

Let me get started making it and i will be in touch later once its ready to weld if thats ok ?.

I was actually thinking about making it a big bigger (volume wise) - does it look about the right size ?

Cheers
