Cheapest K series MLS gaskets?
Evening all.
Having brought my VVC K series, I am now looking at changing all the belts and head gasket so that I know it's been done using the uprated MLS
stuff and uprated lower oil rail.
However, where is the cheapest place to buy the bits? The MGOC want roughly £280 for the MLS head set, oil rail and head bolts, both timing belts, a
tensioner and a new water pump. Whilst I want to do it properly, I'd rather do it for less than that!

Hi, I bought a multi layer shim gasket from ebay ages ago and it was perfect user id is (shirley9293) and they have lots of k series stuff for sale
also you should be able to get the gasket from land rover as they reinvented it for the freelander so worth getting a price from your local landy
spares dept

Mmm, that sounds good. I was a bit dubious about the £40-50 kits when some places want twice that for just the MLS kit and no bolts!
Off to Ebay it is then.

Whole load of rubbish talked about what you require to do the job. All you need is a multilayer head gasket, they can be found for £20
You don't need new bolts, you don't need the oil rail.
Rover bolts can officially be reused 5 times but you must check the bolts screw down fully into the block.
The block ladder isn't stronger or stiffer it is just made from a more creep ressistant aluminium alloy.
All that really matters is proper cleaning and preparation of the parts and accurate torquing and angular tightening.
However I advise fitting the PRT thermostat conversion ---- easy enough to do.
