webber 45s problems
hi all, i bought a mk indy about 3 weeks ago running sweet as a nut but now when i start the car unless i rev it it stalls and im getting popping from
exhaust and from the rear most carb,the engine is a 2.1l pinto with a piper cam the carbs are webber 45s only thing i have touched is i retorqued the
carb to manifold bolts as they seemed a little loose,im new to carbs so not really sure where to start and dont want to screw them completly

Webers should be mounted with misab plates and sprung washers.
They should move up and down about 1cm at the trumpets, otherwise vibration from the engine may cause frothing in the float chamber and knock the
tuning out.
Loosen the fasteners back off again and see if it fixes it.

by tightening the nuts you may have affected the balance this happened to me took ages to reset them. They should be able to move if not it is
understood that they start to froth up, Misab and thackarey washers needed. You may get away with slacking the nuts , get the car running and loosen
the nuts gradually keep listening to the engine note

back the nuts of gently with etha engine running and listen for the engine note. If you have thakarey washers fitted I think you leave . .22 gap
between the spring washer
