Look at a 1990's Suzuki Swift alternator. They are very small and have a grooved pulley. Russ

Try this one

You will just need to swap the pulley but it is Locost - that's what I used too

are there any higher amperage small alternators? I have a 40a alternator and my voltmeter plummets at idle with any significant load (headlights + anything else).

answering my own question, i've found an 80a lucas type alternator here, with a body diameter of 128mm.
