I wouldnt bother unless you already have one, ive done a couple.

The last one made was 1993 so its an unprotected bit of ford steel thats 20 years old. You can see where I am going.

That said if you come across a good one thats complete with the spreader plates and pick up pipe that give it a go.

Its a case of bashing out the sump a little to clear the pick up. The bolts that hold the windage tray on need cutting back to clear. You need to drill and tap four extra holes in the bearing caps for the sump. Then there is the cut and shut if there is anything left to weld to,

And even more work on a black top as you need a 20mm spacer and a bolt from silver top.

Yes it is possible
It's what I did as I'm a cheapskate

Ingreediments and method I used..

CVH 1.8 RWD sump from a Sierra (the 1.6's do not fit!)
get the wiggly spreader bars that help stop it deforming when nipped up...should come with it)

CVH1.8 oil pickup pipe (shortened to suit the sump if making it a bit shallower)

You WILL have to do some minor mods to the sump to make it fit (the front end needs a bash with a hammer ...just where the oil pickup pipe attaches to the block)
A hole will need drilling through the inbuilt splash guard (windage tray?) for the dipstick to dangle through (I just placed sump in right position then smacked my dipstick up and down a bit and wiggled till it made a mark so I knew roughly where to drill)

The original Zetec will need the windage tray removing and the 4 bolts that hold them on (and are also part of the main bearing cap's bolts) need shortening ...otherwise they will foul the CVH's windage tray

Thats all I can think of
I ended up having a wing added to the offside of the sump (cheers Chippy!)

Mine will be coming off fairly soon after the Exeter show on Saturday?
I have a minor weep that has been making a mess of my driveway for the past 12 months or more...and its needs to sorted!

Will try and get any photo's of it if you need

Just shout up :-)

As pointed out whilst I was typing...they are not particularly common and don't last the test of time very well
(think CVH's were a bit notorious for sump rot IIRC?)

Regards
Rob

Things have happened (unusually fast for this time of year)

I now have the cvh sump/oil pipe/spreaders. The main cap bolts have been cut down, sump knocked about (heat and ball pein hammer) and so on.
Now, what do I do about gasket?? I can get the sum,p all nice and tight against the block diwn the sides, but it seems to have a bit of a gap around the front and back "half round" area. Thought of glueing a zetec sump gasket to the cvh sump, or is there a better way forawrd. And is it necessary to drill/tap the extra holes in the block? Whats the verdict chaps!
Cheers
Clive

Indeed...the CVH 1.8 rubber gasket (and a smear of sealent used here as well)

Don't forget to drill/tap the extra 4 bolt holes into the oil pump and rear seal housing by using the CVH sump/spreaders as a guide

I managed to go too far when doing the front holes and pierced through to the other side, but luckily its not been an issue and actually meant I could use a thin nut to help lock it in place when I managed to strip them when tourquing up
(that alloy is chuffing soft!)
