duratec misfire

Hi all my 2003 mondeo has just started misfiring on a trip back from the north tonight and the engine managment light has now come on any ideas on what this might be

First i would check ignition coils

My friend had a 2.0 mondeo with an intermittent miss which was coil packs, I think it cost him £70 ish to do and from what he found was a common fault. It was quite intermittent though, some days it would be great then others a bit missy and down on power.

EDIT: he had the EM light on too

That's that lovely snow stuff getting under the hood and melting on the electricals and letting the smoke out.

Check the butterflies inlet manifold, there are problems with the secondary ones

Coil pack failure is very common after a hard frost.
