Position of silencer?
Has anyone used a non turned out silencer and routed it straight through the rear arch, close to the bodywork?
Would this decrease noise by much? And would the exhaust gasses cause any problems blowing under the arch?
The reason I ask is I have seen a Honda s2000 exhaust for sale but the silencer has no turn out tail pipe and will be a bit louder than the standard
silencer. It would be just the tip which went through the arch

It's a slash cut straight pipe so could be positioned so gasses were fed towards the drive shaft area

You don't want to point exhaust gas at a tyre, could contain unburnt fuel and oil which is slippery.
Turning it away from the tyre is ok, will get a bit sooty under there

I suppose there is no reason it couldn't point towards the ground even

I will be changing my exhaust slightley to aim down and back, and nearer the tyre
If there is oil coming out of the exhaust, i would be more worried about engine loss than wheelspin !!

Would love to jacko but was struggling to find a route. An s2000 powered mk Indy had a rear exit exhaust

INDYBIRD has done a rear exit exhaust on his zzr1400 MNR. Perhaps that could give you inspiration.

thanks cerbera. i have looked at his. the only slight difference is my pipework is 70mm diamiter for ths f20c motor! which could prove difficult to
bend to a decent radius and alsoroute to the rear of the car
