getting under IVA emissions.....?

Well i'm starting to think i might have made a bit of a mistake....
i currently half have a 1.8 silvertop zetec in my striker running on twin 40 dellortos with a dunnel ignition only ecu.

I haven't sorted out the exhaust yet, but i do have a backbox, i'm going to guess this does not contain a cat.

Anyway, i'm starting to think that there's probably no hope in hell that i'll ever pass the emissions tests with this setup... hoping for some words of encouragement please...!!!

Is there a chance that you can find paperwork indicating engine is pre aug-95 (I think that is the date, but not sure). Before that date emissions were easy. Alternatively swap an engine of that age in. Old zetecs needn't cost the earth.

hmmm, probably not. i got the engine of another member on here so could see if he has anything, otherwise can't ford give you something from the engine number?

but assuming it's post 95 and assuming it's not going to be changed..........

Twin 40's and a cat ?????
The cat would be buggered by the time you have driven from your garage to the main road

Compare the engine number on the block, by the starter motor flange and compare it with the date codes given in the Burton Power website.
If is inside the 1994 cut-off date write to Ford Technical Centre in Walsall for confirmation and take their reply to the IVA test.

if the engine code is pre 95 you can prove it at the iva with the burton catalogue as it is an accepted publication. if its post 95 just fit a cat its not the end of the world
