how do sock filters fit on?
do they just push over the carb trumpets (ZX9R carbs i'm using, i forget the exact model, the E spec ones i think?)
i've got the trumpets, but don't really want to make a air box just yet. plus sock filters semm cheap enough
was looking at these ones

seems alright i think? but if they just push over the trumpets, how do i make sure they don't fall off? tie wraps or something?

I used these on my ZX 9 carbs picked them up for £15.00
RAMAIR tall carb air filter socks Weber DCOE Dellorto on eBay (end time 08-Jan-11 12:25:30 GMT)
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

Biggest issue is how to stop them getting sucked into trumpets (and wetting the plugs if on carbs!)
Tried em, spent more on plugs than fuel....got an airbox....sorted

If i remember right the piper x ones i have are 70mm inside wide
and would be to big for what you want
That gives you a clue of the size of them

ah, just seen that yeah^
the ramair ones linked above look a better size. are the reinforced with wire inside to hold the open?
i'm quite tight on space for them, but i want to run the engine. once i know everything works, i can look at a air box, but for now,
they'll be fine 
i've got the trumpets with back plate, cable ties seem the way, think i can see a good way to do it

Can anyone remember the video that was on youtube of the yellow (can't recall if it was an Indy or a Locost) running without a bonnet showing
the air filter getting sucked inside out?
Was a turbo CVH IIRC?
Just searched for it and failed....I recall it being pretty damed funny and could do with a laugh

I bought a set of these last year. I secured them with Tie Wraps on Honda Blackbird carbs. They seemed ok until i went for a spin, no problems on
normal running (steady away), but on hard acceleration at about 4000 rpm the engine started losing power, coughing, due to socks collapsing into the
carbs. I don't run air filters or air box. I bought them to supress induction noise when noise testing on trackdays. Then off they come!!!

Best way to fit them is roll all four up together, place in plastic bag and insert into rubbish bin.

Although to be fair, despite being rammed
up against the bonnet the ones i acquired with the car didnt cause any problems for the few months it took my to get around to coughing up the £70 for
an ITG megaflow to go with the already fitted backplate.
