2 Litre Zetec - How to Confirm? + Fitment Qu's

Hi All,

Apologies for going over old ground here!

I've been offered a 2 litre Ford Zetec.

What do I look for to confirm that it is indeed a 2 litre?

As I understand it there is '2.0' cast into the block somewhere? Where exactly?
Anything else to look for?

Also, what do I need to convert to rwd with MT75 box.

1) CVH sump or mod the original?
2) CVH flywheel?
3) Sierra clutch?
4) CVH starter motor?

It will have 2.0 cast on the side of the block. Middle of the inlet side, quite big.

The MT75 g/box will bolt staright on, I used the starter from the Siera that the g/box came from.

I think most fit a lightened or 1800 zetec flywheel. If you stick with a zetec flywheel you can use the crank pickup for the ECU.

If you have an earlier silver top sump you can have it shortened without too much hassle.

Not sure about the clutch as I bought a Dunnel lightened flywheel and clutch together.

Mt75 will bolt straight on. You can use the 2.0 fly' and the donor clutch if its in good nick.
The only mod needed to the clutch is a 20mm spacer glued to the face of the sierra thrust bearing. You can/could buy a new bearing with spacer ready glued on for around £60 from westfield.

I chopped an inch of the bottom of the bell housing webbing as it was lower than my sump. pic0

Sump will depend upon silver/blasck top and how much your spending. Ive done two cvh sump changes and its not worth the bother. The newist you will find is twenty years old and as thin as bog roll.

Silver top will fit black top with extra bits but not the other way around.

If cutting a black top sump check to make sure you have a metal pick up pipe to mod aswell, most are now plastic.

To get the starter to fit a black top sump you have to hack of a lot of the alloy casting. You still have to grind a little away on a standard silver top.

If you have £200 in your pocket then scholar / dunnell is where it wants to be going. pic pic2

If putting a silver top sump on a black top you will need four 20mm steel spacers aswell as the four main baering bolts to space the windage tray away from the crank. The bearing caps are 20mm shorter on the blactop.
