removing dynojet air correctors

How do I undo the blocked air correctors that are part of a bike carb dynojet kit?

Need to lean out my top end..

When I did my first ever set, I used hardening 2 part putty.

I hope that whoever did yours didn't, because it ain't gonna come out in a hurry!!!

"Mine" would need drilling if removal was required...

I have done this in the past. It requires drilling out with skill and dexterity. Best done on a pillar drill. The important thing to know is that immediately behind the Dynojet air corrector is another standard but larger air corrector. So when you drill out the Dynojet corrector, make sure you do not push the drill through the original one. Be careful. It is not necessary to totally remove the Dynojet corrector, just make its hole larger than the jet behind. as you drill, you will see the size of the original jet through the hole.

I'm not an expert but surely unblocking the air jets isn't going to make much or any difference at the top end, as a percentage the amount of air you are adding is tiny in relation to the total amount of air going through the choke where as at idle / part throttle the extra air is quite a large part of the total air.

Normal carb setup is to set the main jet size first (WOT), then needle/needle height (part throttle) and lastly the idle jet screws.

Have you tried a smaller main jet?

Sorry that I can't actually answer the question as to how to remove the plugs.

Thanks for the info.

Down to 160 mains now and the fuelling is good throughout the rev range on WOT until i hit approx 5000rpm it gets very rich then, hitting about 10 on the afr. I though air correctors leaned out the top end, do on webers?

The air jets are completely blocked, not with epoxy resin but some sort of brass insert, about 5mm in. As you say cosmick it may be a case of carefully drilling through!! I might get a 1mm bit to go through first.

Only other place I have a prob is on very light throttle openings/cruise ie doing 40-60 mph in top gear the engine leans away out to 18+ and off the scale and the engine stumbles and misses.. My idle is bang on 14.7 and after a blip on the throttle returns nicely to idle with no hanging above or dropping below... Any ideas on this one?

Are you certain there are no air leaks?

I only ask as I am surprised that the ZX9's are so far out. But then if they have a dyno-jet kit I guess someone could have been playing around inside too?

I have triple checked for leaks. and all is well at the manifild face and the fluro hose too..
