The Monster Lives

Well it feels like the engine swap has taken an age but today i finally got it fired up.

the engine is a saab b204 turbo running a t25 turbo with vw golf turbo ignition coils all controlled by the latest and greatest megasquirt 3 coupled with the additional ms3x card for fully sequential ignition and injection, all channelled through a vauxhall omega gearbox.

here is the vid

Big day getting it running and won't be long before that t25 gets binned for something bigger .
The 204 is a gem to tune , I run one with a big holset and apart from volvo t5 valve springs is bone stock and makes
510hp on pump fuel .

I've stuck to the Saab management as it's got some pretty good features for knock control and good maps are freely available on the Saab forums here and in the us

Looks and sounds pretty good, how did you get the engine to mate to the gearbox?

i simply bolted them together as they are the same pattern. when gm took over saab in 94-95 they made all the bolt patterns for the gearboxes the same. the only real problem is the the omega had a dual mass flywheel and the saab has a standard one. there is nothing wrong with that its just that the omega dual mass flywheel is 23mm thicker than the saab one meaning i had to make a spacer to get the clutch concentric slave cylinder and release bearing close enough to the saab clutch for it to work.

the the 3.0 v6 omega box that i have also fits the vauxhall redtop just for those that are interested weighs 11.6kg less than a type9 and can take up to 280nm of torque

I watched it again, and it sounds as though there is a bit of flutter on the turbo. Do you have a dump valve fitted?

Nice going, sounds sweet
For some reason I thought the SAAB would be a pain to get running on megasquirt but yours obviously works well!
I'll probably be hasstling you for a 'how to' guide if mine won't run off the original ECU properly
