Dunnell weber Manifold doesn't fit webers? help please!

Hi Guys,

Got a slightly odd problem. I'm part way through my zetec install in the striker, and i've hit a snag.

I've bought one of these: Linky

I've offered my twin 45's up to it, and they mount on it fine. But, the linkage now doesn't appear to fit at all.

Firstly, It seems to foul the central part of the casting (the bit of alloy between the two carb mounts); on my CVH engine which the carbs were on previously, this central section (between the carbs) wasnt there.

Secondly, the linkage now appears to be too close together, so it now even if the central casting piece wasn't there it would foul the side of the carb bod when it was moved.

having placed the mounts together, the CVH one is definitely spaced further apart than the new Dunnell one.

Sorry for lack of pics, i'll try and get some up to show what i mean, but has anyone experienced this before? or used this manifold before?

Any help/critism gratefully received!

Yep, you can have the inkage under or over.
If over the fingers sit forward of the spindal. If under they sit behind the spindal.
With mine I had to cut the bridge out of the manifold. You can then trim the fingers on the carbs so they fit closer together.

Thanks Wasa,

do you have a pic of your linkage close up? which one did you use?

I did think about cutting the bridge out, but didn't want to unless it was necessary. Seems a bit bizarre that most of these manifold you can buy have a bridge in between, yet the standard (assuming mine is) linkage doesn't fit?

I can cut thr bridge out, but it seems as if even with that the arm that pushes down on the spindle will foul part of the carb body......

argh!

The linkage was the twin cable under webcon setup lt200 or somthing. I wasnt impressed with the go but they did look the dogs. I sold them and made my own efi.

will do Wasa, thanks for your help.

So you found webers to be a bit sluggish? I could always sell them and go for bike carbs?!??!

OK! Pics at last....

Old CVH manifold on the top, new zetec manifold underneath. The two main difference are the hole between port 2 and 3, and the fact the spacing between 2 and 3 in wider. Will grinding out the centre section be ok? or cause any issues?

and the linkage pic. the problem is that the two carbs will now sit too close together so the rod that pushes down on the spindle fouls a mounting lug on the side of the carb body.

Any thoughts? reccomendations? Different linkage? different manifold?
