electric supercharger?
Maybe this is a silly question, indeed perhaps even a very silly question, but never the less.
Has anyone any experience of this
FORD FOCUS ELECTRIC SUPERCHARGER. AIR INDUCTION KIT on eBay (end time 10-Mar-11 11:03:29 GMT)
just a thought,...
your thoughts on this would be most welcome

LOL!
Try looking at how much power a normal supercharger takes when it's driven relatively efficiently off the crankshaft. Now work out how much
energy an electric supercharger would consume when it's based upon energy created rather inefficienctly by the alternator spinning round into
electricty then back into rotational energy by a tiny electric motor.

Most superchargers consume horsepower in the 10's before they create any power.
That "bad boy" is fitted with a 5A fuse. Which means it's pulling around 50W.
Which is 0.06705109 horsepower.
Say no more?

Not a single statement of fact
5A fuse 12v = 60W
1 watt = 0.00134102209 hp
So compared with a REAL supercaharger this uses less than 1hp
Its gotta be close to perpetual motion

Hi Howard.
You'd get similar performance gains from folding your back seat down flat.
The only thing getting super"charged" is YOU!

How depressing reading his feedback. What a load of shite. This is utter junk, it does nothing at all apart from get in the way of the air that is
trying to get into your engine. I should tell him he is a thief, but im sure he knows it.
And the few people who do mention that it does nothing, he replies that they must have fitted it wrong!

I suppose there could be some power gains just be virtue of the fact that you're ditching the stock filter. Then again, badly chosen aftermarket
filters can actually reduce power. The car manafacturers don't just choose any old filter from the spares bin!
I think it's time for some cheeky questions I'll start
"Dear Need4Speed Vortex. Do you sell rear wings? Because I'm sure I'm going to need some serious downforce will all the extra
horsepower created! Would it work with one of these hydrogen producing cells that people sell on Ebay. What about those special spinny fans that fit
in the exhaust? I'm going to have to fit some fat tyres will all the power. I've heard that using this special Cobra oil rather than
Castrol creates more power as well- do you know about this? I think it was Cobra oil. Or maybe Mamba oil? Something like that?"

a time!
I appreciate all the answers, all 8 in about as many seconds, thanks again

LOL. They replied
Hi
Thanks for your email.
No Im sorry we dont sell rear wings.
We do however sell dilithium crystals which are mainly used in trans warp propultion systems, which when applied correctly open up the space time
continuem and enable peer to peer worm hole travel, and in certain circumstances have been known to assist in time travel.
With kind regards

Not entirely, as it all depends on the efficiency of the compressor wheel, but yes, its still shite.

Phew! That's OK - I checked their website and it's all clear in their terms and conditions:
Website descriptions, Web Site information and samples on display are indicative only and any specifications, weights, measurements and technical
data (whether relating to performance or otherwise) have been prepared by manufacturers and are for guidance only and shall not form a
description within the meaning of the Sale of Goods Act (as amended). Buyers are required to check current specification, weights, colours, and
measurements prior to order, as no liability shall be accepted by this Company for any claim arising from this. The manufacturers of any product
reserve the right to amend any specification, without notice, in order to improve products or where amendment becomes necessary.
So basically, it's your fault if you buy the product and it doesn't do as it says it should, as the description on the website is only for
guidance...
Glad we cleared that up folks - just imagine the hoo haa if we'd accused an honourable business of selling utter shite and making a disgusting,
cowardly living skinning hard earned money off other people...
