Zetec Silvertop 1.8 Question

Have a mates 1.8 Zetec engined Westy coming over at the weekend with a Death rattle

Plan is to have a look and save it if possible by a rebuild or replace the bottom end with a re-con one
( The head is good and has Kent cams fitted )

Any tips on sourcing rebuild parts for the Zetec and any recomendations on a source for a re-built bottom end ?

Usually use Autovaux for VX bits but wondered if there's anybody similar for Zetec parts

Cheers
Perksy

I would have though it would be quicker and cheaper to go and get another engine and swop the head

Swap the full engine and change the cams around, the zetec is generally a strong unit ones with 80k are still around and are easily good for 150k. The other engine can then be rebuilt over a period of time as money and time permit. An engin swap will take a day tops

Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

Strip it and have a look. just rebuilding the top end will cost more than a fresh motor. Bits from ford are very dear, anything you need can be got from burton power. Also not cheap.
