Indy Blade first gear knocking
hi, is it normal for first gear the be knocking when driving in it.. for example , if im in traffic and a wanna go slow ill drive in 1st gear but when
i let off the throttle or put my foot on the throttle a little bit the engine will knock with the revs if u can understand me ??

hi mate.. check the flange bolt going to the gearbox flange is tight.. this is a common problem coming loose on the blade engine.. normally caused if
the prop isnt properly aligned....

Could it be backlash in the diff?

It's almost impossible to coast in first gear without it snatching, as the car jerks your foot jerks on the pedal and it gets worse.
If the carbs are a little out of balance then this makes things worse.
Have you got a lot of throttle pedal travel, again only a short push makes things worse again as it will be very sensitive to small movements.

I'm with Jonny p as mine was knocking a little before the prop came off the gear box at 70 mph and turned my engine into spares.
