Zetec head gasket

Evening all,

After a superb blat today with Tezza1,Coozer,Krismc and Steve(dont know his user name)

I have realised that my zetec silvertop sump is way too low and the sump guard is taking a real beating.
I need to get my blacktop fitted pronto but need to fit the head first.

The blacktop specifies a MLS gasket that i can get for around £50 and I can get a composite gasket
for £20.

My question is this.Given that i have both silver and blacktop heads,i have compared them and can see no discernable
difference, can i use the composite gasket on my blacktop.

I'm not being a cheapskate,i could just use the extra 30 notes on something else.

Cheers in advance,

Andy

I would think the two gaskets are different somewhere, the silvertop uses hydraulic lifters, so the oil feeds at least would be different. Maybe completely off the mark but I'd use the proper gasket.

It will fit but will drop compression as the mls will be thinner.

Cheers Wasa,

The penny has just dropped.Sivertops have flat pistons, whereas blacktops have dished pistons.
I wonder just how much it would drop the comression.
